Do you remember the story of the wicked rich man who had alot of food in his barns in Luke 12:16-21? This man had no care for the things of God neither does he have any care for the people around him. He was only concerned about himself. In fact, he didn’t even care for his own immediate family. His only concern was himself.
Jesus speaking to his disciples, “And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God”(Luke 12:16-21) .
Have you ever wondered why others struggle to feed while they are beside those that can help them. Alot of people struggle to make ends meet despite the fact that they have rich relatives who could help but then those rich relatives are so unwilling to help because of Selfishness. No matter what someone has done to you or no matter how badly you are treated, do not ever close your eyes to their needs.
Self centredness has led alot of people in trouble. For instance, God took away the life of the rich man because of his Selfishness. Let’s learn to share the little we have with others. May God help us to be selfless in Jesus name.
